Potter Puzzler?

25 Jul

As an interlude to my supposed usual #BabyBytes, I thought I’d write quickly about a conundrum my hubby and I seem to have discovered in the Harry Potter series…

SPOILER ALERT – If you haven’t read the books (or perhaps seen the movies) you might want to wait to read this post…

. (This should make the remainder of my post ‘below the fold’ – unless you have a gigantor sized computer screen. Or you use your TV for your computer monitoring, and it, too, is of gigantor size.  If either of these is the case, I tried, and you must be overly curious, and not willing to wait to read the books (do that first, if you must do both) or see the movies (or, read the books, and skip the movies!), in which case, spoil away! :P)

In book seven, The Deathly Hallows, when we’re learning about the Hallows themselves, the true Invisibility Cloak (the one passed down through Harry’s family, to Harry himself) is also said to be invincible – as in, it absorbs spells thrown its way, and protects the wearer.

Rewind to movie six (and, as it turns out, book six), The Half-Blood Prince.

In both, Harry, while wearing his ‘true’ Invisibility Cloak is petrified by Malfoy on the Hogwarts Express. While wearing the cloak. I know I mentioned it already, but it bears repeating.

So – is this a conflict that JKR has dealt with somewhere, of which I’m not aware?

Puzzling, or maybe I’m an overtired Mummy, with an overactive brain?
